It’s launch day: Minecraft is out on Nintendo Switch 2 as of October 27, 2026. Vibrant Visuals gives the game a richer lighting look, the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack comes along for the ride, and you can choose between Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions — digital or physical. If you already own the game on Switch digitally, there’s a free-upgrade window worth marking.
What’s available at launch
- Vibrant Visuals for a brighter, more atmospheric look
- Super Mario Mash-Up Pack included
- Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions
- Physical copies alongside digital
How to decide
Standard is the simplest way to get onto the new console. Deluxe and Ultimate add extra bundles on top, so they make sense if you want the bonus content without buying it piece by piece. If you’re upgrading from the original Switch, claim the free Standard upgrade first, then decide whether the bigger editions are worth it to you.
Launch-day plan
- Check whether your region qualifies for the free digital upgrade
- Claim it before the January 31, 2027 deadline
- Turn on Vibrant Visuals and walk through a favorite world at sunset
- Back up any worlds you can’t lose
The best part of a new console launch is revisiting an old world and noticing the light on the water.
