26.3 Snapshot 8 is another Java testing build with a clear Realms focus: invite codes. Realm owners can create and manage join codes so friends can hop in without the usual invite friction.

Each Realm can hold up to five invite codes. Codes can be turned active or inactive, deleted when finished, and given an expiration. Players join through a new Join Realm screen by entering a code.

The snapshot also continues polishing the World Options screen from the pause menu. Game Mode is clarified as Default Game Mode, Personal Game Mode covers your current mode in that world, and Force Game Mode can lock other players to the world’s default.

Smaller gameplay notes include cushions only breaking when fully covered by suffocating blocks, and villager profession trades updating mid-trade when a villager levels up. Explorer map names for a few buried or abandoned destinations were cleaned up as well.

To try it, enable snapshots in the Minecraft Launcher’s Installations tab and run a separate test world. Snapshot builds can corrupt saves, so do not treat them as your main survival folder.

Anything in a snapshot is still under review. Use the issue tracker for bugs, and expect invite-code or options-screen behavior to shift as Mojang iterates toward the finished update.

Session vibe

Snapshot 8 is invite-code plumbing: up to five codes, active/inactive toggles, expiries, and the new Join Realm path. Treat it like a receptionist shift — practice generating and killing codes before the whole friend group shows up.

Player checklist

  • Generate a single test code, join from a second account or alt, then delete the code and confirm leftovers still need manual kicks.
  • Label codes in your notes (family / Discord / weekend) so you know which one to deactivate first.
  • Disable unused codes at the end of the night instead of leaving five live entries forever.

Listen while you play

Suggested vibe: light lobby chimes over gentle overworld loops — door-greeter calm while you manage codes.
