Pre-Release 3 kept the bug-hunting road rolling before 26.3’s full drop — polish pass energy, disposable-lab rules, Happy Mining still required. This is the build you use when you want autumn ambience on camera without promising the world your hardcore seed.
Technical
- Data pack version → 121.0
- minecraft:mod float provider uses standard modulus (matches int)
- minecraft:pow treats 0^0 as an error that halts computation (matches int)
Highlights from the fix pile
- Falling-block flicker / invisibility when landing or stacked breaks
- Wayland focus handoff when clicking links
- Seeing through blocks inside snow layers
- Shovel durability when extinguishing campfires restored
- Break particles/sounds stopping correctly on multiplayer pause/portal cases
- Villager trade exploits (zero-reputation free trades; restock-while-open free trades)
- Exclusive fullscreen / borderless / windowed edge cases across macOS & Windows
- Rightmost column rendering in windowed mode; Windows+Down restore quirks
- FPS reduction when minimized under exclusive fullscreen
- Quick-break hit sounds; post_effect debug overlay naming

Who should have cared
- Mac/Windows fullscreen tinkerers
- Anyone trading with villagers on test worlds
- Multiplayer particle correctness nerds
- Datapack people watching float provider consistency
- Creators recording autumn trails who need window focus and FPS behavior to stay sane
Lab script
- Clone/ignore primary worlds before enabling
- Verify one trade edge case after updating
- File clean reports for leftover fullscreen/falling-block flicker
- Extinguish a campfire with a shovel once and confirm durability feels honest
- If you datapack, sanity-check mod/pow edge cases before trusting worldgen math
Analyst read vs the RC train
Pre-releases are wider nets; RCs are narrower scalpels. PR3’s pile mixes creator platform pain, trade integrity, and particle honesty — the unglamorous work that makes a camping drop feel finished instead of “pretty but haunted.” If RC1–RC3 were the final soundcheck, PR3 was still rearranging the stage lights.
Failure modes
- Migrating hardcore because the canopy already looks shippable
- Ignoring villager trade fixes because “we don’t cheese” — until a guest does
- Recording on exclusive fullscreen quirks you have not reproduced after the update
- Treating datapack version bumps as someone else’s problem
- Skipping campfire shovel checks because “too small to matter”
Creator desk notes
Wayland focus handoffs, windowed edge columns, minimize FPS behavior — these are not glamorous, but they are the difference between a clean autumn recording and a night spent fighting the OS. If you make trail videos, PR3’s platform pile is more important than another leaf-color paragraph.
Trade integrity belongs in the same bucket. Zero-reputation free trades and restock-while-open cheats sound like niche exploit talk until a guest joins your test Realm and “accidentally” breaks the economy you were screenshotting for a guide. Patch the culture by verifying the fix once, then invite people.
Falling-block flicker and snow-layer see-through bugs are the visual cousins of that trust problem. Autumn recording nights die when blocks ghost or hide what they should hide. Reproduce once, note leftovers, move on — do not marry the pre-release just because the canopy looks finished.
Soundtrack note: PR nights are desk ambience. Soft loops while you poke trades and windows. Save the full trail mix for retail Wilderness Bound, when shovel-on-campfire is flavor instead of a regression test.
Pre-releases are bug spray, not homes. If you used PR3 as a recording lab for autumn ambience, smart. If you migrated hardcore into it, brave in the wrong direction.
Polish builds are where camping fantasy stops flickering — treat them like labs, not lodgings.
