Changes are coming to Minecoins for Nintendo
Official source by Staff ·

Minecoin rules for Nintendo are changing on October 27, 2026. From that date, coins you buy inside Minecraft on a Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 stay usable only on those Nintendo systems.
The reverse is also true: Minecoins purchased on other devices will no longer cover Marketplace buys on Nintendo after the cutoff. Cross-spend between Nintendo and other platforms gets a hard split going forward.
Coins you already own before October 27 are treated differently. They move into a Legacy Wallet that still works across compatible platforms, with no expiry. When you spend, Legacy Wallet balance is used first, before newer platform-locked coins.
After the change, new Nintendo purchases go into a separate Nintendo Wallet. Retail Minecoin cards are worth a careful look too—newer packs may not list Nintendo support, so check the packaging before you buy or redeem. Player support pages have more detail if you need to confirm what a card covers.

Session vibe
Wallet news is a quiet planning session, not a build night. Put the calendar on October 27, 2026, and sort which Minecoins live where before the Nintendo split lands. A calm desk mix helps you inventory platforms without impulse-buying another card.
Player checklist
- List every Nintendo vs non-Nintendo device you shop on, then decide where leftover coins should be spent before Oct 27.
- Spend or gift Marketplace items you already want from your current balances while Legacy Wallet rules still favor flexibility.
- Before buying a retail Minecoin card, read the packaging for platform support so you do not lock coins to the wrong storefront.

Suggested vibe: soft study piano under a low overworld bed — admin energy for a wallet checklist.
